Cooking & DIY/Home Calculators

Free cooking and DIY home calculators: recipe scaling, oven temperature conversion, cooking measurements, shoe and clothing size conversion, fuel economy and cost, paint, tile, wallpaper, concrete and floor area. Locale-aware size converters that follow your site language.

Cooking and home projects are full of small conversions and quantity sums that decide whether a dish or a DIY job comes out right — scaling a recipe, reading a foreign oven setting, buying enough paint or tiles, or ordering shoes and clothes across borders. The Cooking & DIY/Home Calculators hub brings together the everyday maths of the kitchen and the home, each running entirely in your browser with no sign-up and no data stored.

Each calculator has its own page with a clear explanation of the method, sensible default values, and answers to common questions. The supporting guides go deeper into the concepts — how cooking measurements really convert, how oven temperature scales including fan settings relate, how to measure a room for flooring, and how paint coverage changes by surface. The results are estimates for planning; sizes, coverage and material yields vary by product and surface, so confirm the numbers with your supplier or the product label before buying.

How these calculators work

Recipe scaling & cooking conversions

The recipe scaler multiplies every ingredient by the ratio of desired to original servings. The cooking measurement converter uses exact US customary factors (1 cup = 240 ml, 1 tbsp = 15 ml) and a water-to-grams shortcut. The oven converter reduces every scale to Celsius and applies the gas-mark table and a 20°C fan adjustment.

Locale-aware size converters

The shoe and clothing size converters start from a physical measurement (foot length, chest or bust) and default the target region to your site language — EU for German, JP for Japanese, US for English — so the first result is the locally correct size. A selector lets you convert into any other system.

Fuel economy & trip cost

The fuel economy converter moves between L/100km, US and UK mpg and km/L through a common litres-per-100km base. The trip cost calculator works in kilometres and litres internally, so mixed units (miles with L/100km) work correctly, and returns the fuel used and total cost.

DIY quantity & area

The paint, tile, wallpaper, concrete and floor-area calculators turn dimensions into a buyable quantity — litres and cans, tiles and boxes, rolls, cubic metres and bags, square metres and feet — each with a wastage allowance and rounded up to whole units so the job is done in one purchase.

These tools provide general estimates only. Paint coverage, tile yields, concrete volumes, fuel economy and clothing and shoe sizes vary by product, surface, vehicle and brand. Always verify with your supplier, the product label or the brand’s own size chart before buying or acting.
