The tip is the bill amount multiplied by the tip percentage, and the total is the bill plus the tip. The per-person share is the total divided by the number of people. Selecting a country auto-fills the customary tip percentage for that destination, drawn from widely cited norms, but the percentage remains editable so you can adjust for exceptional or poor service.

The customary rates are general guidelines, not rules. They assume table service at a mid-range restaurant and do not account for an included service charge, which many countries add by law or custom. Where a service charge is already on the bill, the customary tip is a small top-up or rounding rather than the full percentage.
