It is the granular view of a day on the road — useful when a single daily total feels too abstract and you want to see which category is eating your budget before you adjust it.

Cómo se calcula esto

The daily budget is the sum of five categories: food and drink, lodging, local transport, activities and a misc buffer. The weekly projection multiplies the daily total by seven, and the monthly projection by thirty, to help picture longer trips against savings or income.

The categories are independent and additive, so adjusting one does not affect the others. Lodging is entered per day (effectively per night for most trips); if you negotiate a weekly or monthly rental at a discount, reduce the lodging figure to reflect the lower effective daily rate. The misc category is deliberately loose, covering small purchases, laundry, SIM cards and surprises.

The model assumes a constant daily spend, which rarely holds over a long trip — the first and last days often cost more for transfers, and spending varies by destination within a multi-city route. Use it as a planning average, then track actual spending daily and adjust the categories as you learn what things really cost where you are.

Ejemplo resuelto

A backpacker day: €30 food, €45 lodging, €10 transport, €20 activities, €10 misc.

  1. 1Daily = 30 + 45 + 10 + 20 + 10 = €115.
  2. 2Weekly = 115 × 7 = €805.
  3. 3Monthly = 115 × 30 = €3,450 — the figure to compare against savings for a long stay.

Preguntas frecuentes

Should lodging be per night or per day?
Per night, which is effectively per day for most trips. If you stay in one place longer and negotiate a weekly or monthly rate, reduce the lodging figure to the lower effective daily rate rather than the nightly walk-in price.
Why is the monthly projection ×30 and not × the exact month length?
For simplicity and comparability. A 30-day month is a standard planning convention. For an exact month, multiply the daily total by the number of days you will actually travel that month.
